EEOC: Hall County employee was sexually harassed
The Times reported on 09-25-2009 that an employee in the Hall County Tax Assessors Office, Pam Dixon,had filed a formal complaint of sexual harassment and discrimination against her supervisor, Richard Lathem, with Hall County. This occurennce happened in 2007 and has not been dealt with properly or timely by county officials.
We urge Steve Watson, Chief Tax Appraiser, The Board of Tax Assessors and the Hall County Commissioners to end this situation immediately. Please do not place any more burdens on the tax payers trying to defend big government.

Hall County Residential Property Still Grossly Overvalued By Tax Assessors For 2011
A sales study was conducted regarding 146 calendar 2009 and 2010 homes sales in March, 2011 FROM ALL AREAS OF Hall County . This study substantiated Hall County residential tax values reviewed are valued in excess of sale price by an average of 40.2%. On average a house and lot tax value must be reduced approximately 28.67% to reach market value as documented by the HCCFEG sales study.

The purpose of this review was to compare the property tax value against
the actual sale price and see if the tax board was using the new definition of
market value as required under Senate Bill 55. This legislation states the tax
assessor shall consider foreclosure sales, bank sales, other financial
institution owned sales, or distressed sales, or any combination thereof, of
